Oxo-Biodegradable masterbatch based on pro-degradant and pro-oxidant additives is added in single-use as well as disposable plastics so that the polymer chains can be broken into shorter segments. Micro-organisms can colonize the short oxidized segments, latch onto them, and metabolize and digest them as food. Carbon dioxide, water, and biodegradable organic matter such as humus are the end by-products.

The non-toxic Oxi-Biodegradable masterbatches are suitable for single-use plastics made from PP, PE, and PS such as trash bags, polystyrene cups, plates, clamshells, mulch films, etc.
